Software

The Acrobat hand controller and the motor module each have a CPU microprocessor which are linked by RS-485 1/2 duplex technology. Digital dive, climb, and maintain status commands are given by the computer system running Acrobat software and/or the hand control unit. The software uses wing angle and depth data (both bottom depth and Acrobat depth) in an algorithm to position the tow body on the user determined course.

The software is being updated periodically as users express their needs.  If Sea Sciences believes the new features are useful to others then a new version is made available to our customers at no additional cost.

The latest JAVA version of the Acrobat control software is V5.1.1 and runs on a number of different platforms.

In the Acrobat System, customers have the option of purchasing their own computers. In such cases we recommend certain types which can withstand the rigors of field use.  Startup problems  are generally restricted to getting a second serial port operational, which on newer computers, is primarily a USB port using a serial to USB conversion hub.
